DOLMAR, the world's first manufacturer of gasoline chain saws, was founded in 1927 by German engineer and inventor Emil Lerp. The company, which will celebrate is 80th anniversary in 2007, is still based in Hamburg - one of Europe's major seaports and economic hubs.

Since 1991, DOLMAR has been a member of the Makita Group, the world’s third largest manufacturer of quality power products. Established in 2004, the Integrated Distributors Network is responsible, among other functions, for the support of the Briggs & Stratton brand in North America. A formidable sales and distribution organization, IDN supplies approximately 16,000 dealers across North America. The chief hallmarks of the IDN’s commercial strategy are high-quality products and first-rate service.

IDN distributes all of DOLMAR’s power products within North America. This includes: gas and electric chain saws, string trimmers and brushcutters, gas and electric hedge trimmers, blowers and power cutters. DOLMAR GmbH – North American Division, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, is responsible for all DOLMAR operations supporting IDN distribution.
